President Erdoğan lands in the US: Hafize Gaye Erkan among those who welcomed him

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in New York, USA, yesterday to attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly and hold various meetings.

President Erdoğan, who landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport at 23:57 TSI on the private plane "CAN," was welcomed by Turkey's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Ahmet Yıldız, Ambassador to Washington Sedat Önal, and Consul General in New York Ambassador Muhittin Ahmet Yazal.

President Erdoğan was accompanied to the US by his wife Emine Erdoğan, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, Head of the National Intelligence Organization İbrahim Kalın, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç, and other officials.

As part of his US visit, Erdoğan will attend the 79th UN General Assembly and hold several meetings.

President Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan were greeted with displays of affection by the crowd waiting for them at the entrance of the Turkish House (Türkevi). Walking toward the citizens holding Turkish flags, the Erdoğan couple chatted with them for a while.

Among those who welcomed Erdoğan was Hafize Gaye Erkan, who stepped down as Central Bank Governor on February 2. After greeting members of the press, President Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan entered the Turkish House with their delegation.
