President Erdoğan: We are opening the Yayladağı Border Gate to crossings to prevent congestion
AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan made statements regarding the decisions taken after the cabinet meeting. While stating that the Assad era in Syria has ended, Erdoğan also spoke about Turkey's stance regarding the region from the very beginning.
Erdoğan made important statements following the Cabinet meeting.
Key highlights from the statements of AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan:
-We are turning the Century of Turkey into reality day by day. We are concerned with leaving behind works that have fulfilled their duty properly. The phrase 'May God be pleased with him,' which our people say from the heart, is an honor and a source of pride for us. We have served our nation with passion until today. Now, we are concerned with growing Turkey in every field with the works we have inaugurated through strategic moves.
-Turkey is breaking the chains placed on its feet and its will one by one, and is realizing its goals. With its growing economy, strong institutions, and active policies, it is rewriting both its own history and the history of humanity. Today, we are stronger, freer, more reputable, and more self-confident than yesterday.
-Just as we have done for the last 22 years, we will continue to lead Turkey from success to success and experience new joys and excitement. As 85 million, we are a tremendous and magnificent family. We dream of a happier, more prosperous Turkey.
-Every work we bring to our cities fuels our determination for new projects. The love of the homeland in our hearts shines like the North Star in the sky. It illuminates our path in our cause for a strong Turkey. We have no doubt that as long as we hold tightly to our brotherhood, protect the environment of stability and trust, and keep our internal front as solid as a fortress, we will see even better days.
-We continued our work with domestic politics and an intense agenda. We came together with our scholars at the 7th Religious Council. We hope that this council will lead to an awakening regarding artificial religion.
-I was pleased to host Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, who paid his first official visit to our country on November 28. I appreciate the constructive stance Oman has taken in resolving crises.
-By the end of 2024, we will deliver 201,688 units to disaster victims. History will not forgive those who put obstacles in the way of this process instead of holding the hand of an earthquake victim. We continue to disappoint the incompetent who pinned all their hopes on the nation's distress by saying, 'Erdoğan will remain under this rubble.'
-On Monday, December 2, we hosted Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović in our country.
INCREASE IN SCHOLARSHIP AND LOAN RATES
-We came together with our brothers at the Barrier-Free Turkey program. The effort we have shown regarding the participation of disabled citizens in life is known to everyone. We have stood by our disabled citizens in a wide range of areas.
-On December 3, 564 facilities completed by the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) were officially put into service. I wish these facilities, with a total investment value of 98 billion liras, to be beneficial.
-On December 7, we were the guests of our brothers in Antep. Gaziantep is writing an epic, especially in production and trade.
-We chatted with our youth by opening the Şahinbey Library, Turkey's second-largest library. We shared the good news that we have increased the scholarship and loan rates provided to university students by 50 percent.
-Our region is witnessing critical developments that need to be analyzed and understood. The war that has been going on for 13 years in our neighbor Syria has taken on a new dimension. As cities pass into the hands of their new rightful owners, the Ba'ath dictatorship has completely collapsed. We welcome the clearing of cities held by separatist forces from terrorism. Our call to resolve the Syrian issue through dialogue was arrogantly rejected.
-They fled, leaving behind a Syria where many cities have been turned into rubble.
-Since the beginning of the Syrian conflict, Turkey has fulfilled the meaning of being a neighbor and a great state to the letter. Despite the hostile attitude of the ousted regime, we defended Syria's territorial integrity. Of course, we never hesitated to raise our voices against oppression. But we did not turn this into blind hostility either. Everyone who knows the 13-year history of events in Syria is a witness to the struggle Turkey has waged.
"WE ARE OPENING THE YAYLADAĞI BORDER GATE"
-Our relationship in Syria has never been interest-oriented. We stand in the same place today. The Syrian people are our brothers. They are our close friends in all their segments. The inns and mosques that adorn Syria from one end to the other are the signs of our brotherhood that extends from eternity to eternity.
-Who can expect us to turn our backs on our neighbors with whom we share a 910-kilometer border? Half of our heart is Antep, and the other half is Hama, Homs, and Damascus. When a fire broke out in our neighbor's house, we were the first to run to it.
-Our Syrian brothers fleeing the attacks knocked on our door first. 4.5 million Syrians were guests in our home. We have acted as 'Ansar' (helpers) to Syrian refugees for 13 years. We did this with pleasure, not with reluctance; we had so many fights with the opposition on this issue. While they said, 'We will kick you out as soon as we come to power,' we reached the virtue of hosting them in our homes by saying, 'We are Ansar, they are Muhajir (migrants).' We also became a safe, sheltered harbor for the oppressed Syrians. This unparalleled hospitality will be written in history in golden letters.
-Today, once again, I thank every member of my nation, ignoring the provocations of the opposition.
-I believe that the strong winds of change affecting Syria will lead to good outcomes for all of Syria, especially the refugees. As Syria stabilizes, safe returns will also increase. The longing for the homeland that has lasted for 13 years will gradually come to an end. We are opening the Yayladağı Border Gate to crossings to prevent congestion.
"A DARK PERIOD HAS CLOSED IN SYRIA, A BRIGHT PERIOD HAS BEGUN"
-We will manage the returns in a way worthy of our hospitality. We will not allow anyone to tarnish this humanitarian process. The opposition, whose policy toward Syria ended as of yesterday, is trying to create new areas of exploitation over the oppressed. Instead of mourning the ousted Damascus regime, I continue to share in the joy of the Syrian people.
-As of yesterday, a dark period has closed in Syria and a bright period has begun. Turkey reads events with state wisdom and looks at the event in Syria from a very broad perspective. Turkey has no eyes on the territory of another country. Our goal is to protect our citizens and our homeland from terrorist attacks. Syria's territorial integrity must be preserved. Syria belongs to Syrians with all their identities. It is the Syrian people who will decide the future of Syria. What falls to us is to strongly support the efforts of the Syrian people to get their country back on its feet. A Syria where all Syrians live in peace is Turkey's greatest goal.
-I want to address the brotherly Syrian people. Turkey and the Turkish nation are by your side today and tomorrow, just as they were yesterday. Despite all impossibilities, you wrote an epic with your blood and soul, and you never bowed down to oppression and the oppressor. You did not fall into despair; from the very first day, you always said, 'God is great.'
REIMBURSEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR DIABETES PATIENTS
-The minimum wage commission will meet starting tomorrow. If they are going to do something for the benefit of the nation, I invite the opposition to pay their debts as soon as possible.
Devices necessary for glucose monitoring for our children struggling with Type 1 diabetes were covered by reimbursement. In addition to this, we are including sensor-based sublingual glucose monitoring devices in the reimbursement scope by the Social Security Institution (SGK).
