President Erdoğan: Why shouldn't we have a 'Nobel'?

Highlights from President Erdoğan's remarks are as follows:

We are together with you on the occasion of the Ilim Yayma Awards, which are being organized for the fourth time this year. I would like to thank every brother and sister who contributed to this important ceremony, which I view as an assembly of knowledge. The recipient of the Grand Prize is also being awarded 5 million by the foundation. Our other professors are also being awarded 2 million. This is a source of pride for us.

Why shouldn't we also have a 'Nobel'? I learned with satisfaction that the Ilim Yayma Awards will gain an international identity. This year, a record was broken with 188 institutions and 1,324 applications.

The world, which calls itself civilized, has been content with watching the genocide in Gaza. 165 schools, universities, and educational institutions have been completely destroyed in Israel's attacks. More than 13,500 students and over 800 teachers have been martyred by the occupation forces. More than 785,000 students have been deprived of their right to education. A conscious, deliberate policy of mass slaughter has been implemented here. Gaza is covered in millions of tons of rubble today. To ignore this, to not talk about this, is to be a partner in this mass slaughter. We have never remained silent, and we will not remain silent from now on. We will shout this out everywhere we go.
