President Erdoğan's first statement on diploma and investigations

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is making important statements during an iftar program with former deputies.

Here are the highlights from President Erdoğan's statements:

I convey my greetings, love, and gratitude to all our brothers and sisters with whom we have walked the path, shared a cause, and united our hearts and destinies under the roof of our AK Party since its foundation.

I pray for God's mercy upon our elders and fellow travelers who have passed away, especially Zeki Ünal, one of the founders of our party who served in parliament as a three-term deputy for Karaman, who lost his life in recent days.

The Zionist Israeli administration is continuing its policy of massacre and genocide in Gaza with all its brutality by breaking the ceasefire. In the new attacks launched by this herd of barbarians, whose eyes are clouded with blood and hatred, more than five hundred Palestinians, mostly children and women, have been martyred. The bombs rained down on civilians in Gaza during the month of Ramadan and at the time of suhoor have left many parents without children and many children orphaned.

Those who remain silent in the face of these recklessly conducted massacres, and those who do not prevent the war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity committed by Israel, will sooner or later be held accountable both before history and in the conscience of humanity. Those who murder children, emboldened by the powers they rely on, will, by God's permission, drown in the innocent blood they have shed.

As Turkey, we will continue to stand by our Palestinian brothers and sisters, to take our place on the right side of history, and to support the innocent people of Gaza with all our means and all our strength.

There is a saying: 'A mistake cannot be defended with another mistake.' As the late Ziya Paşa said, our country's opposition, thinking everyone is blind and the world is foolish, thinks that defending mistakes with even greater mistakes, or boasting of one's own theft while trying to show courage, is politics. They are not even aware that by doing so, they have reached a point where they cannot even look their closest associates in the face, let alone the public.

Their ambitions and passions have practically taken their minds hostage. They are hurling threats at judges and prosecutors.

The opposition cannot provide an answer to the allegations regarding the diploma and corruption. We do not have time to spare for the theatrics of our opposition. The effort of the opposition to portray their own internal squabbles or their troubles with the law as the most important issue of the country is the height of hypocrisy.
