Message from President Erdoğan regarding March 31

Erdoğan shared a post on his social media account regarding the March 31 local elections. In his post, Erdoğan included the following statements: 

"In our local administration election marathon, which we started two months ago, we visited 52 of our cities from east to west, from north to south.

From Diyarbakır to Trabzon, from Hatay to Samsun, from Muğla to Çorum, from Karabük to Hakkâri, we embraced our citizens in every corner of our country. We greeted our youth.

We received the blessings of our elders. We conversed with our sisters. We came together with our industrialists and producers. We listened to the voices of our retirees and laborers.

We consulted with our tradesmen, who are the representatives of our Ahi tradition. We shared the joy of our earthquake survivors who have moved into their new homes.

Without making any distinctions, we shared our troubles, longed for one another, and conversed face-to-face with our entire nation. The scene we witnessed in the places we visited is this: We are a great family of 85 million with all our differences. As we say in our election song: We are all roses of the same vineyard, the wind of the same mountain. The stronger we keep this unity, the more confidently we can look to our future.

Our political views, the parties we support, our origins, our dispositions, and our lifestyles may differ.

But Turkey is our common homeland, our common roof, and our common home. The ballot box, which is the instrument for the manifestation of the national will, is entrusted to the honor of all 85 million of us. We will fulfill our responsibility to our democracy both by going to the polls to vote and by protecting our votes. I wish for the March 31 elections to be auspicious for our country and our nation from now."
