AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared a post on his social media account on the anniversary of the September 12 coup.
The following statements were used in the September 12 post shared on Erdoğan's social media account:
We have not forgotten, and will not forget, the September 12 Military Coup, in which hundreds of thousands of people were detained, thousands were tried with the death penalty, almost every family received their share of the pain experienced, and democracy was suspended, even 44 years later.
We are taking, and will continue to take, every necessary measure to ensure that Turkey and Turkish democracy never again face attacks like those of September 12, May 27, February 28, and July 15.
