Primary election day in the CHP: Ekrem İmamoğlu is the sole candidate
A primary election will be held today in the CHP to determine the presidential candidate. Ekrem İmamoğlu is the sole candidate. Following his detention, non-members will also be able to cast their votes in the "Solidarity Ballot Box."
The critical day for the CHP's presidential candidacy has arrived. The internal primary election will be held today, with Ekrem İmamoğlu running as the sole candidate. However, it was announced that following İmamoğlu's detention, those who are not CHP members would also be included in the process. In this context, non-members will be able to cast their votes in the "Solidarity Ballot Box."
5,600 BALLOT BOXES SET UP
To determine the presidential candidate, 5,600 ballot boxes have been set up nationwide, and voters will be able to cast their ballots today.
Initially, it was planned that only party members would vote. However, this decision was revised following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on the morning of March 19.
TWO SEPARATE BALLOT BOX SYSTEM
Two different ballot boxes await voters arriving for the primary. While party members will vote in their designated boxes, non-members will be able to express their will through the "Solidarity Ballot Box."
The ballot boxes have been set up in 81 provinces at CHP provincial and district headquarters, as well as in municipal cultural centers and sports halls.
Information regarding where to vote can be accessed through the party's official website.
CHP members will be able to find out where to vote using their Turkish ID numbers and mobile phone numbers, while non-members will be able to do so by selecting their city and district of residence.
A CALL FROM İMAMOĞLU
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is the sole candidate in the election and is currently in detention, released a message via social media.
In his post, İmamoğlu stated, "I invite all my fellow party members to the ballot box without exception. Furthermore, in addition to the ballot boxes for our party members, ballot boxes will be set up for all our citizens across Turkey. I invite all our citizens to be a part of this great enthusiasm."
