Prison transport vehicle overturns in Eyüpsultan: 10 injured

In the Mithatpaşa neighborhood of Istanbul's Eyüpsultan district, a prison transport vehicle belonging to the Provincial Gendarmerie Command overturned on Kemerburgaz Road today for reasons yet to be determined. Following the accident, which occurred around 15:00, health, police, and fire department teams were quickly dispatched to the scene.

It was learned that there were 12 inmates, one driver, and four gendarmerie personnel in the vehicle. According to initial information, 10 people were injured in the accident, and it was stated that two of the injured are in serious condition. It was reported that one of the seriously injured is a gendarmerie officer and the other is an inmate. The other eight people with minor injuries were reported to consist of four gendarmerie personnel and four inmates.

Following the incident, the road was closed to traffic and rescue operations were initiated. The teams made an intense effort to transport the injured to the nearest hospitals. While an investigation into the accident has been launched, the teams' work in the area continues.
