Provincial chair argues with police at Erdoğan's rally: 'Are you agents?'

AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Rize provincial chair, Hikmet Ayar, argued with police officers at a security barrier point in the rally area before yesterday's event.

Before the rally held by Erdoğan in Rize yesterday, a dispute broke out between Rize Provincial Chair Hikmet Ayar and police officers after the police did not allow AKP officials to enter through the area where barriers were located, instead of the designated security entry points. The argument between Ayar and the police was captured on a citizen's mobile phone camera.

"KNOW YOUR PLACE, I AM THE PROVINCIAL CHAIR"

AKP Rize Provincial Chair Hikmet Ayar, who approached the on-duty police officers with party members accompanying him, demanded that citizens be allowed to enter through the area where the barriers were located. When the police stated that no one was being allowed through that area for security reasons, Hikmet Ayar told the officers, "You will know your place, don't act like heroes. My friend, I am the provincial chair. I am the host of this rally, you will let me through."

"ARE YOU AGENTS? ARE YOU FETÖ?"

Upon Provincial Chair Ayar's insistence, the police officers said, "We are on duty to ensure you go through where you are supposed to, so you don't jump over or climb through." In response to the officer's words, Ayar said, "This is astonishing, are you agents? Are you FETÖ? What are you, don't be rude," before leaving the scene.
