Qatar announces: $50 million humanitarian aid pledge for Gazans
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has pledged $50 million in humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip, who have been under intense Israeli attacks since October 7. It was also announced that educational scholarships will be provided to 100 Palestinian youths through educational foundations in Qatar.
In a statement issued by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that the aid decision was taken as part of solutions aimed at improving the conditions of Palestinians displaced in Gaza.
The statement noted that educational scholarships will be provided to 100 Palestinian youths through educational foundations in Qatar.
The statement, which called for a "just, lasting, and comprehensive" solution to the suffering of more than 5.9 million Palestinian refugees displaced from their lands since 1948, emphasized that $50 million in aid will be provided for Palestinians displaced in Gaza.
Reminding that "Israel is an occupying power," the statement expressed that "occupying forces are obligated to ensure the protection, welfare, and human rights of the civilian population under occupation."
In the Foreign Ministry's statement, it was noted that "the current war being waged against the civilian population and children in Gaza constitutes a violation of international law and human rights law."
According to the latest information published on the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Qatar has provided approximately 1,500 tons of medical aid, food supplies, and a field hospital to Gaza.
Qatar played a key role, alongside Egypt and the US, in securing the temporary "humanitarian pause" in the Gaza Strip that lasted 7 days and ended in early December, during which a prisoner exchange took place between Israel and Palestinian groups.
