Question directed at Murat Kurum was censored: Statement from Mehmet Akif Ersoy regarding the 'Gaza question crisis'!

The People's Alliance's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) mayoral candidate, Murat Kurum, was a guest on the program "Nedir Ne Değildir" (What Is It, What Is Not) hosted by Mehmet Akif Ersoy on Habertürk TV.

During the program, where Kurum evaluated many topics excluding political questions, a question regarding Gaza was directed at him, and a voice from the studio was heard saying, "This won't do. Can we take the microphone?"

Following this, the young person was unable to ask their question and handed over the microphone.

In a post on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account regarding the incident, Ersoy stated the following:

"Friends, make up your minds; some opposition accounts and their trolls are bashing me, saying 'Journalism is dead - pro-government, sycophant Akif took the microphone from his hand,' and so on. Some accounts and trolls close to the government are also thinking, 'He staged an operation against Murat Kurum. Akif is unreliable, be very careful with Habertürk.'"

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

In a speech on March 1, Murat Kurum had said, "On March 31, the oppressed in Gaza will rejoice, our brothers and sisters who reach out to us in Gaza will rejoice. For the freedom of Gaza, and for the aid we will provide to Gaza as the IMM, our nation will take a stance in favor of real municipalism on March 31."

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to these words by Kurum, saying, "There is no mayoral candidate in any electoral district who mocks people's intelligence to this extent."

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu had also invited Kurum to the event for the aid trucks they would be sending to Gaza on March 5.
