Rabies scare in Şanlıurfa: A neighborhood placed under quarantine
In the Eyyübiye district of Şanlıurfa, a quarantine has been implemented in a neighborhood after a stray dog tested positive for rabies.
In a statement issued by the Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality, it was reported that following a report from a person bitten by a stray dog in the Batıkent neighborhood of the Eyyübiye district, subsequent checks confirmed that the dog in question tested positive for rabies.
The statement noted the following:
"The area in question has been declared a quarantine zone under the coordination of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and the Provincial Health Directorate. Stray animals collected in the quarantine zone under veterinary supervision have been brought to our rehabilitation centers and placed in special areas. Upon the completion of the quarantine periods, sterilization and rehabilitation processes will be initiated. We are ready for intervention and any kind of duty at any moment for the health of the lives entrusted to us. Our Şanlıurfa Animal Rehabilitation Center, located in the Bakımlı neighborhood of the Haliliye district, is open to visits from all animal lovers who are curious about the fate of the animals."
