Rain and iftar preparations increase traffic in Istanbul: 83 percent congestion recorded

As the time for iftar approached, traffic congestion increased on the D-100 highway and parts of the TEM Motorway, as well as on main arteries and streets, while crowding also occurred in public transportation, particularly at transfer stations.

On the European side, vehicles are struggling to move on the D-100 highway in the direction of Ankara between Avcılar-Küçükçekmece and Okmeydanı-Çağlayan, and in the direction of Edirne at Yenibosna, Merter, and Cevizlibağ. Traffic is moving slowly on the TEM Motorway between Seyrantepe and Gaziosmanpaşa. The congestion starting at the Hasdal junction continues until the exit of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge.

On the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, congestion for crossings to the European side, as well as between the European and Anatolian sides, begins at the Uzunçayır junction, and from Ümraniye in the direction of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge.

On the Anatolian side, traffic congestion is being experienced in both directions on the D-100 highway between Kadıköy and Tuzla. While the congestion on the TEM Motorway starting from Ümraniye continues until Ataşehir, vehicles are having difficulty moving on the Şile Highway from Altunizade to Ümraniye. Two-way congestion is also observed between Ataşehir and Sultanbeyli.

Due to the iftar hour in Istanbul, crowding also occurred at metrobus, bus, and tram transfer stations. Passengers had difficulty boarding vehicles due to the crowds at the metro and metrobus stops in Altunizade, Uzunçayır, and Cevizlibağ.

According to data from the IMM CepTrafik map, traffic congestion across Istanbul was measured at 83 percent, while this rate rose to 85 percent on the European side and 80 percent on the Anatolian side.
