Rain and storms to hit the country! Beware of floods and flash floods
The Meteorological Service has issued a warning for heavy downpours along the Black Sea coast and in the northeast of Eastern Anatolia, where storms are also expected to be effective. Citizens have been warned to take precautions against floods and flash floods.
The Meteorological Service announced that a new cold air mass arriving from the Balkans is showing its effect intensely in the Black Sea region. The warnings stated that very heavy downpours are expected along the Black Sea coast, in the northeast of Eastern Anatolia, and in the vicinity of Artvin. Furthermore, it was reported that a storm blowing from northern directions will be effective along the central and eastern Black Sea coasts.
WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE TODAY?
According to the latest assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology, partly cloudy weather will prevail in the northern, inner, and eastern parts of our country today. The northeast of Marmara, the Black Sea (except Çorum), and the north and east of Eastern Anatolia will experience local downpours and thunderstorms. Other regions will be mostly clear and sunny. Air temperatures will be 1-3 degrees below seasonal norms in the southern and eastern parts, and near normal levels in other places.
BEWARE OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS!
The Meteorological Service stated that heavy rainfall is expected along the Black Sea coast, in the northeast of Eastern Anatolia, and in the vicinity of Artvin. There is a risk of local floods and flash floods in these regions. Additionally, adverse weather conditions such as lightning, small-scale hail, and sudden strong winds are also expected. Citizens are advised to be cautious against such negative conditions.
STORM PREPARATION: STRONG WIND WARNING
The Meteorological Service announced that the wind will blow from northern directions at speeds of 40-60 km/h in the south of Marmara, the Aegean, the inner parts of the Mediterranean, the south of Central Anatolia, and the west of Eastern Anatolia. However, the most intense winds are expected to occur as a storm from southern directions in the southeast of Eastern Anatolia, and from northern directions at speeds of 50-70 km/h along the central and eastern Black Sea coasts. For this reason, it was stated that those living in regions where a storm warning has been issued should take precautions.
