Reaction from CHP's Başarır to Ayşe Barım's arrest: 'We did not bow down during Gezi, and we will not bow down today!'
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır has joined the reactions against the arrest of talent manager Ayşe Barım, whose investigation was deepened. Başarır stated, "The effort to criminalize Gezi is in vain!"
Talent manager Ayşe Barım, who was arrested and sent to prison after an investigation opened against her over allegations of 'monopolization' in the TV and film industry was expanded to include her participation in the 2013 Gezi Park protests, has been incarcerated. It was alleged that Barım, the founder of ID İletişim, directed the actors represented by her agency to the Gezi Park protests and was one of the 'planners of the Gezi Park protests.'
The arrest decision drew widespread reaction. A broad circle, primarily the actors represented by ID İletişim, met the decision with backlash. Another reaction to Barım's arrest came from CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır.
Sharing a post on his social media account, Başarır stated, "The effort to criminalize Gezi is in vain!"
Başarır wrote the following:
"This decision regarding Ayşe Barım, who was arrested on charges of ‘attempting to overthrow the government’ for supporting the Gezi Park protests 12 years ago, is an indicator of what AKP's Turkey has become! The effort to criminalize Gezi is in vain! No longer is the freedom of any of our citizens guaranteed. We did not bow down in Gezi yesterday, and we will not bow down today!"
