Recep Tayyip Erdoğan speaks at Aydın rally: 'Of course there are problems we need to solve'

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements at his party's Aydın rally.

Highlights from Erdoğan's statements are as follows:

"Aydın stood by us with a vote of approximately 40 percent in the May elections. This vote share is far from expressing the bond of affection between us and the people of Aydın.

While we were dealing with our own internal issues, countries at our same level surged ahead.

WORDS ON MENDERES

Aydın is the legacy of Menderes, who said 'the word belongs to the nation' to us. We are expecting good news from Aydın on March 31. The February 28 postmodern coup, with its before and after, is one of the shameful pages in our country's history of democracy. The mentality that sent Menderes to the gallows was the same as the February 28 mindset. We have not forgotten those dark days, and we will not forget them. May God not let the country fall into the hands of a fascist mentality.

If there is a coup or junta attempt, the lightest comparison I can make for what they will face is July 15.

Of course, there are problems we need to solve. We will solve them not by surrendering to those who cannot stomach national democracy, but by fighting harder.

Whoever makes you visionless, unprogrammed promises, rest assured that not only will they be unable to do what they say, but they will also deprive you of what you already have. We commit to you to build Turkey not with empty words, but by working, producing, sweating, and resisting obstacles. The month of Ramadan is approaching.
