Record fine for driver dancing in a tunnel in Trabzon
A driver who stopped their vehicle in the Akyazı Tunnel and danced to music with passengers has been fined 180 thousand TL, and the vehicle has been banned from traffic for 120 days.
An unusual incident in the Akyazı Tunnel in Trabzon quickly became the talk of the day on social media. A driver passing through the tunnel stopped their vehicle in the middle of the tunnel, turned on loud music with the people accompanying them, and got out of the vehicle to start dancing. These moments were recorded with a mobile phone camera and shared on social media accounts.
Following the rapid spread of the footage, law enforcement took action. In the investigation conducted by police teams, it was determined that the driver and those with them had endangered both their own lives and the safety of other drivers traveling in traffic inside the tunnel.
The driver, who was found to have acted in violation of the Highway Traffic Law, was issued a total administrative fine of 180 thousand lira. It was also reported that the driver's license was confiscated and the vehicle used was banned from traffic for 120 days.
The Trabzon Police Department, in a post on its official social media account regarding the incident, stated, "No action that endangers the peace of our citizens and traffic safety will be tolerated."
