Record fines imposed on food companies by the Competition Board

Record fines imposed on food companies by the Competition Board

The Competition Board has concluded its investigations into several food companies, including Nestle Türkiye, Eti Gıda, and Horizon Hızlı Tüketim, and has imposed a total of 355 million lira in administrative fines on the companies in question.

As a result of the investigation into Aksaray Unlu Mamulleri Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi, it was determined that the company violated the Law on the Protection of Competition by determining the resale prices of its buyers. Following the acceptance of its settlement request, the company was fined 2 million 219 thousand 764 lira, with a 25 percent discount applied.

In the investigation regarding Danone Tikveşli Gıda ve İçecek San. ve Tic. AŞ and Nestle Türkiye Gıda Sanayi AŞ, it was decided that there was no need to impose an administrative fine on Danone Tikveşli Gıda, while Nestle Türkiye Gıda Sanayi AŞ was fined 260 million 183 thousand 629 lira on the grounds that it violated the law.

Eti Gıda San. ve Tic. AŞ was fined 36 million 96 thousand 652 lira, and Horizon Hızlı Tüketim Ürünleri Üretim Pazarlama Satış ve Ticaret AŞ was fined 55 million 140 thousand 344 lira. Additionally, it was determined that Binboğa Üretim Pazarlama Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ violated the law by determining the resale prices of its buyers, and the firm was fined 3 million 938 thousand 700 lira.
