The Ministry of National Defense announced that 1 million 182 thousand 425 people visited Anıtkabir on the occasion of the October 29 Republic Day, setting a new record.
The following was stated in the announcement made by the Ministry:
"We express our gratitude to our 1 million 182 thousand 425 visitors who flocked to Anıtkabir on the occasion of the October 29 Republic Day and broke the new visitor record, as well as to all our citizens who could not visit due to the heavy crowds. On the 100th anniversary of our Republic, we once again commemorate the founder of our Republic, our Commander-in-Chief Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the heroes of our National Struggle with respect and mercy."
