Release decision for Tanju Özcan's driver
Suat Çelikcan, the driver for Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, has been released by court order following an appeal against his recent arrest.
A new development has occurred regarding Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, who was arrested and suspended from his duties in February in Bolu as part of allegations of 'extortion by coercion.' It was reported that Öznur Ç., an employee of the Bolu Municipality, provided an additional statement to the prosecutor's office last week, making new accusations against Özcan and filing a complaint in the capacity of a victim.
Following this additional statement, an investigation was launched against Tanju Özcan on charges of "qualified sexual assault by abusing the influence provided by a public office," and Özcan was arrested again. Suat Çelikcan, the driver for Özcan, who was detained within the scope of the same file and arrested by the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace on June 18, was brought before the court again following his lawyer's application.
Following his release, Suat Çelikcan left the prison on the morning of his discharge.
