Remarkable advice from Ahmet Hakan to Murat Kurum! 'It has reached a dead end now...'

Turkey will head to the polls for local elections on March 31, 2024. Istanbul is at the top of the list of cities where the critical elections are most anticipated.

The race in the megacity is expected to take place between Murat Kurum, the candidate of the People's Alliance formed by the AKP and MHP, and Ekrem İmamoğlu, the candidate of the CHP.

Hürriyet Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan, known for his proximity to the government, gave a remarkable piece of advice to Murat Kurum in his column today.

Stating that Kurum has avoided engaging in direct polemics with Ekrem İmamoğlu, Hakan wrote: "Research shows that: The two candidates are unable to best each other. The two candidates are neck-and-neck. In other words, Murat Kurum's strategy of 'not engaging in polemics' and 'focusing on projects' has reached a dead end. Murat Kurum should even consider engaging in polemics."

Noting that the "Only Istanbul" slogan has completed its function, Hakan stated: "Murat Kurum is in urgent need of a remarkable new move, an impressive brand-new discourse. He could even reconsider his decision to 'stay away from polemics.' It's to that extent."
