Speaking about her actions following the accident involving her son, Timur Cihantimur, Tok stated, "I acted more on instinct than with my mind. My only thought was to protect my child."

In her letter, Eylem Tok also noted that she has been questioning the decisions made in the past, stating, "If there is a mistake, the greatest responsibility for it belongs to us as his mother and father," expressing that they bear the greatest responsibility for the process as a family.

In the traffic accident that occurred in Kemerburgaz, Istanbul, on March 1, 2024, Oğuz Murat Aci lost his life after being struck by a vehicle driven by Timur Cihantimur. Following the incident, Timur Cihantimur was taken by his mother, Eylem Tok, first to Egypt and then to the US. These developments sparked significant public outrage.

The legal process for Tok, who was captured and arrested by US authorities, continues to be examined by judicial authorities in both Turkey and the US.
