Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan shared a post on social media following the 4.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Aegean Sea.

Ercan stated the following:

"There is no need to say that an earthquake will happen every day. Both the public and the administrators have earthquake awareness. However, is there a populist, competent administration, investment for the public's life security, or the financial capacity for the public to strengthen their own homes? Is this the real question? In the West, this is called a social state. I cannot say it; our tongues are tied."
