Rent of 13-story ministry building in Ankara causes surprise! 'This is how public resources are squandered'
CHP's Ali Gökçek has brought the leasing of a building owned by the Ministry of Labor at a low rent to the parliamentary agenda. Gökçek argued that the annual rent of 1 million 60 thousand liras constitutes a waste of public resources.
The claim that a 13-story, 52-apartment building in Ankara, owned by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, was leased at a very low price has become a subject of debate in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). According to a report in Sözcü, CHP Istanbul MP Ali Gökçek stated that considering the building's size and its location on the road to Ankara Esenboğa Airport, the monthly rent of 88 thousand liras and the annual rent of 1 million 60 thousand liras result in public loss.

Gökçek emphasized that the rent amounts to a low level of 1,692 liras per apartment, stating, "It is unacceptable for a 13-story, 52-apartment public building in the center of Ankara to be rented for only 88 thousand TL per month." He further expressed that this situation is an indicator that public resources are not being used effectively and transparently. Gökçek questioned whether the ministry conducted market research prior to this lease.
In the motion submitted to the TBMM, Minister Vedat Işıkhan was asked whether any action would be initiated to determine if the low rent caused a public loss. Additionally, information was requested regarding whether there are other leased properties belonging to the ministry and what their rental prices are.
