Retired police officer shot by former council member following argument
In the Çayırova district of Kocaeli, retired police officer Salim Doğan was seriously injured in an armed attack following an argument in front of his home.
Retired police officer Salim Doğan was shot in an armed attack that occurred around 20:00 on 5113 Street in the Yenimahalle neighborhood. According to allegations, Doğan argued with Ö.S., a former CHP council member who had served in the Darıca Municipality, in front of the building for reasons yet unknown. As the argument escalated, Ö.S. opened fire with a handgun he was carrying.
While the assailant fled the scene quickly, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area following reports from nearby citizens. Doğan, who was shot in the abdomen, was taken to Gebze Fatih State Hospital after receiving initial intervention. It was learned that the bullet entered Doğan's abdominal cavity and exited through his back, and he has been taken into surgery.
The suspect, Ö.S., was apprehended shortly after and taken into custody, while the investigation launched by police teams into the incident continues.
