Retirement pensions on the agenda at Cabinet meeting
The Presidential Cabinet, meeting after a two-week break, will evaluate several critical topics, including the possibility of a raise for the lowest retirement pensions, the counter-terrorism process, and the Israel-Iran tension.
The Cabinet meeting, to be chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will be held at Beştepe following a two-week hiatus. Both domestic and foreign policy issues will be on the table during the meeting.
THE 'TERROR-FREE TURKEY' PROCESS AND İMRALI TALKS
One of the most notable topics of the meeting will be the "Terror-Free Turkey" process. Intelligence reports regarding the PKK's disarmament process will be evaluated. Contacts maintained by the DEM Party through the İmralı Delegation will also be on the Cabinet's agenda.
HOPE FOR A RAISE FOR RETIREES
The issue of the lowest retirement pension, brought to the agenda by AKP Group Deputy Chairperson Leyla Şahin Usta, will be addressed under the meeting's economic section. Efforts will be made to clarify to what extent retirees whose base pension is below 14,469 TL will benefit from a raise.
NEW WAGE OFFER FOR PUBLIC WORKERS ON THE AGENDA
The collective bargaining process, which concerns 600,000 public workers, will also be discussed in the Cabinet. The government's offer of a 17 percent plus 10 percent raise had been deemed insufficient by the labor sector. Whether there will be a new improvement is being awaited with curiosity.
REGIONAL DEVELOPMENTS TO BE EVALUATED
In foreign policy, the ceasefire process that has begun between Israel and Iran, the attacks on Gaza, and Turkey's mediation role in the Russia-Ukraine war will be discussed. Additionally, the reflections of President Erdoğan's contacts at the NATO Leaders' Summit will be one of the important topics of the meeting.
