The London Metropolitan Police announced that the luxury car belonging to former Austrian Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger, which was stolen in Italy in 1995, has been found in the UK. It was stated that the report regarding the theft of Berger's Ferrari F512M model car was made by Ferrari.
According to the statement, an American took the vehicle they purchased in the UK in January to a Ferrari service center and contacted the authorities due to suspicions that the car might be stolen. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was stolen in Italy in 1995, subsequently sent to Japan, and brought to the UK at the end of 2023.
CAR SEIZED
The London Police seized the vehicle and halted the sale and shipping processes to the US. Mike Pilbeam, who led the investigation, stated that the history of the vehicle, which had been missing for 28 years, was uncovered in just 4 days. Pilbeam said that the investigation is ongoing and that no arrests have been made so far.
Austrian Gerhard Berger raced for teams such as Ferrari, McLaren, and Benetton between 1984 and 1997. Berger competed in 48 races and finished two seasons in third place.
