According to the statement made by the supreme council, RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin, member Deniz Güçer, and several senior council executives held a working meeting with senior television executives.

Speaking at the meeting held at the Istanbul Regional Representation office, Şahin thanked the 'media organizations that act sensitively regarding women.'

UNWANTED BROADCASTS CAN OCCUR

Reminding that unwanted broadcasts can sometimes occur due to rating expectations, Şahin requested maximum diligence regarding violence against women, which is a social problem.

RTÜK President Şahin stated the following:

"The phenomenon of violence has also covered news bulletins along with tip-off lines. In the future, we may perhaps introduce a parental guidance system for news bulletins. We must fight against violence in a total manner. It is very important that you also pay attention to the language you use in broadcasts. We expect you to be careful against scenes in series that normalize violence. We will also implement a comprehensive meeting on this subject with the participation of our Minister of Family and Social Services."

RTÜK Member Güçer, pointing to the importance of the ethical principles to be determined, said, "We are determining ethical principles regarding how violence against women is reflected in the media. We expect your support for our 8-article ethical principles rules."

In this context, the "Ethical Principles on Violence Against Women," which will be created after the meeting where the opinions of television executives were also taken, will be announced to the public on March 8, International Women's Day.
