Russia: We have seized Turkish-made automatic grenade launchers in Vuhledar

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that after the encirclement of Vuhledar, Ukrainian soldiers fleeing the city left behind a large number of foreign-made weapons and ammunition.

Following the capture of the city of Vuhledar, Russia seized a large number of Western-made weapons belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It was reported that among the most notable weapons seized were Polish-made silent mortars, Turkish and American-made automatic grenade launchers, and NATO weapons such as small arms.

According to information in Haberrus, a large amount of ammunition for these weapons was also seized by Russian soldiers at various points in the city.

Although Turkey officially claims that it does not sell weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, a large number of Turkish-owned weapons, ammunition, and military vehicles are being used by the Ukrainian army.

Vuhledar is located at a strategic point in the southwest of Donetsk and is considered an important region in terms of military logistics. It was stated that the city has great military importance for Ukraine due to its defensive positions at the intersection of Ukraine's eastern and southern fronts.

The withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Vuhledar has sparked criticism within Ukraine. Verkhovna Rada deputy Aleksey Goncharenko described the loss of the city as "terrible." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky defended the decision to withdraw, stating, "lives are more important than buildings."

While it is commented that the fall of Vuhledar could seriously weaken the Ukrainian defense and change the military balance in the region, Russia's seizure of Western-origin weapons is considered a noteworthy development.
