Saadet Party reacts to İmamoğlu's 'Hamas' remarks: 'It is contrary to reason and conscience'
Saadet Party (SP) Spokesperson Birol Aydın has reacted to the statements made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu regarding Hamas during an interview with CNN International.
Saadet Party (SP) Spokesperson Birol Aydın criticized the remarks made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu regarding Hamas in an interview with CNN International, through a statement on his X account.
"IT IS CONTRARY TO REASON AND CONSCIENCE"
Saadet Party Spokesperson Aydın stated the following on his official X account: "The sentences uttered by IMM Mayor Mr. İmamoğlu regarding Hamas in his interview with CNN International are regrettable.
While university students in the US are showing solidarity with Gaza despite police brutality, and people of common sense and conscience across Europe are doing the same despite the wrong attitudes of their leaders, the expressions used by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor are contrary to reason and conscience.
Hamas is an entity that is heroically fighting against oppressors! Given this situation, no one should use sentences with 'buts' or 'howevers' regarding the actions of the Hamas mujahideen who are resisting the oppression of the terror regime.
Finally, we would like to remind that the concepts, and indeed every single letter, used in statements given to Western media outlets—which are in the position of legitimizing the massacre—must be chosen with meticulous care," he said.
EXPRESSIONS USED BY İMAMOĞLU REGARDING HAMAS
Responding to questions about the war in Israel and Gaza during the interview, İmamoğlu voiced his criticisms of Israel and the West.
İmamoğlu stated, "Hamas, of course, carried out an attack in Israel that we are very saddened by. And any structure that carries out these acts of terror and kills people en masse is a terrorist organization in our eyes."
İmamoğlu's statements regarding the chaos in the Middle East and the West's stance are as follows:
Today, unfortunately, the same thing is being applied to innocent Palestinian people. I demand that both issues be evaluated in this context as soon as possible and that Palestinians be prevented from being subjected to such oppression.
In a general sense, the West does not see the big picture on this issue; it looks at this issue only through the eyes of one side or the other. I think we are looking at it more realistically.
We interpret Hamas's attack as a bad attack, a very bad situation, and a terrorist attack. But we also represent an understanding that stands against the oppression that Palestinian women and children are subjected to there today.
