Saadet Party's Israel motion rejected

The group motion by the Saadet Party to prioritize and discuss in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly today a research motion regarding the determination of the content and quantity of goods Turkey sends to Israel, as well as their impact on the situation in Gaza, was rejected by the votes of AKP and MHP deputies. Speaking in the General Assembly, Saadet Party's Kaya said, "I invite the government to act not only with words that are important in international platforms but also with real and deterrent steps, to immediately terminate all commercial relations with Israel, and to call for the cessation of shipments made from our ports to Israel. Justice and human rights can be built not only with words and statements but also with actions."

The group motion by the Saadet Party to discuss in the TBMM General Assembly today a research motion regarding the determination of the content and quantity of goods Turkey sends to Israel, as well as their impact on the situation in Gaza, was rejected by the votes of AKP and MHP deputies.

Explaining the justification for the motion, Saadet Party Istanbul Deputy Mustafa Kaya stated the following:

"Our citizens are boycotting firms that support Israel and are of Israeli origin"

"The balance sheet of the attacks is clear: it has been seen that regional countries, including Turkey, and international actors have not been sufficient in this regard. Our citizens, who are trying to do their best against Israel, which is clearly committing war crimes, have been implementing a determined boycott against firms that support Israel and are of Israeli origin since the beginning of the process. This civil initiative, taken with the awareness that even the slightest support for Israel during a period of such severe humanitarian drama is being complicit in a crime against humanity, is the clearest indicator of our nation's sensitivity and humanitarian stance.

However, unfortunately, at a time when public institutions are also sharing this sensitivity and firms supporting Israel are being boycotted, the failure to review commercial relations with Israel, and furthermore, the increasing volume of shipments since the beginning of the conflicts, shows that Turkey has not yet taken the necessary steps and is, moreover, in a state of contradiction and inconsistency. It is known that more than 300 ships departing from Turkish ports and hundreds of cargo planes are carrying crude oil, fuel, food, iron-steel, cement, textiles, and similar products to Israel. According to the statements of the Turkish Steel Exporters' Association, it is stated that the steel going from Turkey constitutes 65 percent of the Israeli market.

Recent events also show that there are serious differences between the stance Turkey expresses on international platforms regarding human rights and justice and its actual actions. In particular, while it is certainly important to condemn the oppression Israel commits against the Palestinian people, it will not be sufficient unless supported by deterrent actions and will not be taken seriously by the interlocutor. Unfortunately, the ships departing from Turkish ports today and the shipments made increase our concerns in this regard. The fact that ships departing from our country's ports continue their shipments to Israel and that commercial relations have not been terminated not only casts a shadow on the value given to human rights and the understanding of justice with mere words but also damages our credibility in the international arena.

İYİ Party's Türkeş Taş: There is no safe place left in front of Netanyahu

Stating that the world has been watching a war against humanity for 47 days, İYİ Party Adana Deputy Ayyüce Türkeş Taş said, "No one can do anything against the murderer Netanyahu. There is no safe place left in front of the unhinged Netanyahu. Even buildings belonging to the United Nations are being hit. Wasn't the United Nations established to protect and maintain international peace and security, to prevent the repetition of threats to peace, and to ensure that the wars experienced in the first half of the 20th century are not experienced again?"

HEDEP's Dindar: Many states, including Turkey, could not put forward the necessary diplomatic and political initiatives

Expressing that the historical reasons for the Palestinian issue should not be ignored, HEDEP Van Deputy Mahmut Dindar said, "As long as problems are not solved, a more severe picture emerges in the next stage. The war, which has intensified again as of October 7, causes thousands of civilians to lose their lives and tens of thousands to be injured and disabled every week. The occupying state of Israel is targeting all living spaces of the Palestinian people. In the face of these attacks by Israel, many states, including Turkey, have not yet put forward the necessary diplomatic and political initiatives," he said.

CHP's Emre: Coffee or cola do not kill children, but weapons manufactured with this steel have killed thousands of children

CHP Istanbul Deputy Yunus Emre noted the following:

"According to the figures of the Steel Exporters' Association; Turkey's total steel exports are 21 billion dollars, and 1.4 billion dollars of steel were exported to Israel in 1 year. It is recorded in relevant reports that 65 percent of the steel used by Israel is supplied by Turkey. Steel is the most basic input of the arms industry. The idea of European integration to prevent war in Europe started with a coal and steel partnership in the first place. Certain coffee products are being banned on airlines. You cannot order cola on the Parliament campus. Coffee or cola do not kill children, but weapons manufactured with this steel have killed thousands of children. If we as the Parliament are not going to investigate such an issue, what are we going to do?"
