Şamil Tayyar speaks out on Rezan Epözdemir, Cem Duman, and Semra Ilık! 'I spoke with Akın Gürlek...'

While the arrest of lawyer Rezan Epözdemir on bribery charges remains a hot topic, lawyers Cem Duman and Semra Ilık, who were detained in an organized crime operation involving Selahattin Yılmaz—whom MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli defended by calling him his "comrade"—have also been arrested.

Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar made a striking post regarding these operations and arrests.

Stating that Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek is continuing the operations with determination, Tayyar said, "I spoke with Akın Gürlek; he is very determined and confident. This is a historic opportunity for a new cleanup in the judiciary after FETÖ. I hope it is not squandered; it does not seem likely that it will be."

Here is Tayyar's post:

"Rezan Epözdemir. Cem Duman. Semra Ilık. Flashy lives, luxury offices worth millions of dollars, legal teams of 40–50 people. Latest model luxury vehicles with sirens. Overseas vacation promotions for judges and prosecutors, meetings in expensive restaurants, enjoying private boxes at stadiums... The list goes on. Furthermore, establishing connections with politics and other influential centers to gain power is also part of the business. The successive operations are both surprising and promising. I spoke with Akın Gürlek; he is very determined and confident. This is a historic opportunity for a new cleanup in the judiciary after FETÖ. I hope it is not squandered; it does not seem likely that it will be."
