Scandal in Fethiye: Sons of AKP-affiliated Red Crescent branch president arrested for drug trafficking and human smuggling

Burhanettin Tuna, an AKP member serving as the Fethiye Branch President of the Red Crescent, has resigned from his post following the arrest of his two sons on serious charges.

Tuna's son, Enes Tuna, was arrested by the Fethiye Criminal Court of Peace on charges of "drug trafficking" and sent to prison. The court issued the arrest warrant after reviewing the investigation file.

It was learned that the arrested Enes Tuna previously served as the President of the AKP Fethiye Youth Branch.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Burhanettin Tuna's other son, Emrullah Tuna, was also taken into custody two days ago on charges of "migrant smuggling." According to information reported by Habertürk, Emrullah Tuna was referred to the criminal court of peace as part of an investigation conducted by the Seydikemer Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and was arrested and sent to prison for "migrant smuggling."

Following the arrests that dominated the agenda, Burhanettin Tuna resigned from his position as the Red Crescent Fethiye Branch President. It also emerged that Tuna had previously applied for candidacy for the AKP Fethiye District Presidency. In a statement made by the AKP, it was stated that there is no longer any official connection with Burhanettin Tuna.

Emrullah Tuna's name had previously appeared as a suspect in an investigation related to historical artifact smuggling.
