Scandalous allegation regarding mufti caught with a woman in his car: He involved his wife to cover up the incident, İsmailağa intervened
It is reported that Mufti G.B., who is allegedly linked to the İsmailağa community, was caught with a woman in the backseat of his car and that this situation was recorded by the police. In an attempt to cover up the incident, the mufti reportedly brought his wife, who wears a chador, to the Konya Mufti's Office and had her claim, "That woman was me."
Journalist İsmail Saymaz wrote that a mufti who is a follower of the İsmailağa community was caught by police while attempting to be with a woman in his car.
Writing about the issue in his column on Halk TV, Saymaz stated that İsmailağa followers in Konya and certain politicians intervened to prevent any action from being taken against Mufti G.B., and that the police report was not sent to the prosecutor's office.
Here is Saymaz's article:
G.B., who is said to be a follower of the İsmailağa community, was appointed as the mufti of the Beyşehir district of Konya last July.
According to the allegations…
Two weeks ago, in the late afternoon, Mufti G.B. was caught by police officers while he was with a woman in the backseat of his car in an open area. G.B. was shirtless.
While the mufti identified himself, the woman with him did not provide identification. The police filed a report.
The district governor informed the provincial mufti, and the mufti informed the Governor of Konya.
G.B. brought his wife, who wears a chador, to the Konya Mufti's Office and had her say, "That woman was me."
İsmailağa followers in Konya and some politicians intervened to prevent any action from being taken against G.B. The police report was not sent to the prosecutor's office.
Authorities are very angry with Mufti G.B.
They call him a "disgrace to the Diyanet (Presidency of Religious Affairs)."
They also criticize the İsmailağa community for protecting the mufti.
The authorities state the following:
"First, it must be determined whether it was his wife. If it was not his wife, this is a disaster. He should be dismissed from the profession immediately. He is a disgrace to the Diyanet. Even if it was his wife, an investigation should be opened. And then he brings her in and makes her say, 'That was me.' And the İsmailağa community, which preaches God and religion to the people, is standing behind this. They want to cover it up."
