Schoolmates leave flowers on Narin's desk: If she were alive, she would have started school today...

The tragic news about Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21 in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district, arrived 19 days later.

The lifeless body of 8-year-old Narin was found inside a sack in Eğertutmaz Creek, near her home. 24 people have been detained in connection with the investigation.

8-year-old Narin was laid to rest in the village where she was murdered on the day she was supposed to take her place at her school desk.

As Turkey mourns the blood-curdling atrocity, Narin's schoolmates left flowers on her desk. Meanwhile, photographs of Narin were also placed on her desk.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The body of Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21 in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district, was found this morning by the side of Eğertutmaz Creek, located approximately 1.5 kilometers from the village, where detailed searches had previously been conducted.

Searches along the creek had been resumed following a tip-off. During this process, it was revealed that there was also a secret witness in the investigation. Diyarbakır Governor Murat Zorluoğlu announced that Narin Güran was found in a sack wearing the same clothes she was last seen in, and that her body had been covered with stones and tree branches.

There is currently only one person under arrest in the Narin Güran investigation. That person is her uncle, S.G., who is also the village headman (muhtar); it was understood that he left the village by car after the eight-year-old child went missing, deleted records on his mobile phone, and had DNA samples found in his car. Following the discovery of Narin yesterday, 24 people, including her mother, father, two uncles, and an older brother, were taken into custody.
