Manisa Şehzadeler Mayor Gülşah Durbay responded to allegations of an affair with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel by issuing a harsh statement on her social media account.

Durbay announced that she is battling colon cancer alongside these baseless allegations and that she has initiated legal proceedings against those who spread them.

'I HAVE CANCER'

In her statement, Durbay also revealed that she has been diagnosed with colon cancer.

Stating that she underwent intestinal surgery at İzmir Dokuz Eylül University Hospital on August 2 and thought her health was improving, Durbay expressed that the pathology results received on September 4 confirmed a diagnosis of colon cancer.

Durbay mentioned the emotional difficulties she faced during this process, noting that she could not disclose this situation to her sister, who was having a high-risk pregnancy.

'I HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO SLANDER AND LIES'

Durbay stated that she has been subjected to organized slander since the day of her surgery.

Emphasizing that these slanders were presented to the public through an article in recent days and that both she and her family were targeted, Durbay announced that she has filed lawsuits against more than 100 people who spread the slander.

"I will hold these vile people accountable before the law and ensure they are all convicted one by one," said Durbay, who also thanked those who sent her messages of support.

Durbay concluded her statement by thanking CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and his wife Didem Özel. Expressing that the Özel couple gave her great support, Durbay said, "I will carry your support in my heart for the rest of my life." Stating that she is proud to be the first female mayor in Manisa, Durbay said she would fight colon cancer with the same determination.
