Sentence determined for the perpetrator who shot and killed a dentist in the head

An indictment has been prepared against M.E., who shot and killed dentist Mustafa Emrah Düşmez with a handgun in the Konak district of İzmir, on charges of premeditated murder and carrying an unlicensed firearm. An aggravated life sentence has been requested for M.E.

Sentence determined for the perpetrator who shot and killed a dentist in the head

The incident occurred on Friday, February 21, in an apartment located on Ali Çetinkaya Boulevard in the Alsancak neighborhood. M.E. (35) arrived at the home of Mustafa Emrah Düşmez (49), who was known to be a dentist. During the incident, which escalated from an argument over a debt issue, M.E. shot Düşmez in the head with a handgun.


While the unfortunate man lay in a pool of blood, the attacker took Mustafa Emrah Düşmez's phone, recorded a video of the man he had shot, sent it to his mother, and then fled.

The woman, who was shocked to see the video of her son covered in blood, reported the situation to the police. Mustafa Emrah Düşmez, who was determined to be severely injured during the check performed by medical teams arriving at the scene, was taken to Tepecik Training and Research Hospital by ambulance. The injured man lost his battle for life on the 3rd day. His funeral was held in his hometown of Elazığ. 


AGGRAVATED LIFE SENTENCE REQUESTED

An investigation was launched by teams from the Public Security Branch's Murder Bureau, the Crime Analysis Center (SAM) Bureau, and the Intelligence Branch to capture the suspect who fled the scene.

Police teams, having determined that the suspect was in the Basmane neighborhood, captured the fugitive suspect at the address where he was hiding, along with the weapon used in the crime, during an operation. A new development has occurred in the investigation launched following the incident. An indictment has been prepared by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against M.E., who killed dentist Mustafa Emrah Düşmez, requesting an aggravated life sentence for the crime of premeditated murder and up to 3 years in prison for the crime of carrying an unlicensed firearm.
