Severe rain and storms paralyze life: Sea overflows, roofs blown off, sirens blare!
Following warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology, strong southerly winds (lodos) and heavy rainfall have begun to take effect. The storm has caused disruptions in many provinces.
The General Directorate of Meteorology had issued yellow and orange code warnings for 67 provinces for Sunday. Following the meteorological warning, storms and heavy rainfall took effect in many provinces.
The storm negatively affected life in many provinces. In some districts of Istanbul, roofs were blown off and waves rose meters high along the coastline, while strong winds and rain were felt in many provinces such as Ankara, İzmir, Yalova, and Bursa.
Adverse weather conditions also hindered transportation. While ferry services to Gökçeada and Bozcaada were temporarily suspended, İDO and BUDO also announced that some services had been canceled.
ISTANBUL
Following the warnings issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology days in advance, storms and heavy rain took effect in Istanbul. The heavy rainfall, which began around 04:00 across the city, was effective in many districts. During the intensifying storm, the roof of a building in Kağıthane was blown off. While fortunately no one was injured in the incident, some vehicles on the street were damaged.
As the heavy rain and storm were effective throughout the city, those who went to Taksim Square had a difficult time. Citizens, soaked by the rain, struggled to walk due to the force of the storm. Due to the storm, waves meters high formed along the coastline, especially on the Üsküdar shore. Despite the rain and storm, it did not go unnoticed that some citizens were still walking along the coast.
In Pendik's Çınardere neighborhood on Akay Street, the roof of a building was blown off by the storm around 06:00. The flying roof damaged two parked cars. Fire crews arriving upon notification took security measures on the street and carried out work. The storm and rain, which were effective for a while in Istanbul, lost their intensity towards the morning hours.

ANKARA
Due to the wind that was effective in the evening hours, a tree fell onto a luxury car parked on Tirebolu Street in the Ayrancı neighborhood. The fallen tree was cut and removed from the car by municipal teams. The car sustained damage.
On the other hand, the roof of an apartment building in the Yukarı Yahyalar neighborhood of the Yenimahalle district was blown off, and the exterior insulation of an apartment building in the Altınevler neighborhood of the Mamak district was torn off. No one was injured in either incident.

YALOVA
In the Termal district of Yalova, the roof of a house was blown off due to the storm. Two people were injured when they were struck by pieces of the roof, which shattered after hitting another building on the street. Those moments were captured second by second on a business's security camera. In the footage, pieces of the shattered roof can be seen scattering and hitting citizens on the road, while surrounding citizens are seen intervening to help the injured person upon whom the roof fell.

BURSA
In Bursa, the wind, which started in the morning hours and reached speeds of approximately 65 kilometers per hour, continued to be effective during the night. A tree located on the 460th Street of the Bursa Road was uprooted by the effect of the lodos and fell onto the road. Due to the road closure, vehicles were directed to different routes by the teams.
In the Mahmudiye neighborhood of İnegöl, the roof of a building was torn from its place and blown away. Citizens who went outside upon hearing the noise found shattered roof pieces on the street. Upon the notification of the citizens, police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene. The teams examined the roofs of the surrounding buildings one by one for damage assessment. It was determined that the roof had flown approximately 100 meters forward and landed on another street, while pieces torn from the roof hit a building, causing material damage.

İZMİR
In İzmir, roads in Alsancak turned into lakes due to heavy rain and storms. Talatpaşa Boulevard, one of the busy areas of the district, was closed to traffic due to the flooding. Citizens stranded on Kıbrıs Şehitleri Street and the Kordonboyu waterfront were rescued by teams using zodiac boats.
Following the flooding in the Mavişehir region, citizens were warned by the sound of sirens. Citizens who took to the streets upon hearing the sirens ran to parking lots to try to move their vehicles away from the area.

MERSİN
Winter conditions, which were effective all over Turkey, also made their presence felt in Mersin and its surroundings. With the heavy rain that started in the evening hours, marble-sized hail fell on the high parts of the Gülnar and Bozyazı districts. The long-lasting downpour negatively affected life throughout the city. Authorities warned citizens about the adverse weather conditions.
