Severe storm causes fires in Trabzon

Following the announcement made by AFAD yesterday regarding the expectation of a strong and full-scale storm for Trabzon today, strong winds took effect in the afternoon in Trabzon, where air temperatures were felt at 25 degrees Celsius, above seasonal norms, this morning.

STORM TRIGGERS FIRES

Forest, ground cover, transformer, and house fires broke out in over 10 locations, primarily in the Ortahisar, Maçka, Tonya, Yomra, and Sürmene districts of Trabzon. In the city, where many fires occurred due to the effect of strong winds, it was learned that 40 beehives and a house burned down in a fire that broke out in the Baştımar locality of the Yeniay neighborhood in the Sürmene district in the evening hours.

Following the outbreak of the fire, fire crews were dispatched to the region. According to initial assessments, there was no loss of life in the fire.

While a fire broke out in a forested area in the Esiroğlu locality of the Maçka district following strong winds and storms, fire crews were unable to intervene due to the rugged and inaccessible nature of the region, and there is concern that the fire may grow.
