20-year-old İlklima Naz Akbörü, whose mother was a civil servant and father was an officer, moved in with her sister, a teacher in Samsun, after her parents divorced. According to her sister's statements, İlklima, who worked as a waitress at a cafe, fell into a depression after her parents' divorce.

İlklima, who went missing on the day she went to stay at a friend's house, was found dead on the Atakum beach on October 15, 2022. The young woman was found with a gun in her hand, having shot herself in the head. Notes were found next to İlklima Naz Akbörü's body. In these notes, İlklima had listed the names of the harassers who had abused her one by one and described what she had been through.

In the notes she wrote while drinking coffee at a cafe on the beach, İlklima stated, "All I want is for that scoundrel Arslan Sağlam to be punished; those who know him, know him. He touched me while I was sleeping at Doğanay Sezgin's house, then denied it. Doğanay Sezgin undressed me in the shower and was with me while I was too drunk to walk. Hakan Belen, whom I met to have my phone repaired, took me to his house under the pretext of returning my phone. He tried to give me drugs, and tried to kiss me in the elevator while leaving his house." İlklima, who ended her writing by saying 'I ran out of paper', committed suicide.

'THE VICTIM COULD HAVE NO GAIN FROM THIS'

The three individuals named by 20-year-old İlklima Naz Akbörü in the notes were taken into custody. One of the suspects, 30-year-old Doğanay Sezgin, was someone İlklima saw frequently. In his statement, he claimed that individuals named Arslan Sağlam and Hakan Belen had harassed the young woman and that İlklima had told him about it.

Confirming what İlklima wrote, Sezgin stated that İlklima was also harassed by a real estate agent she visited while looking for a house. He said, 'I did not harass İlklima.' The other suspects who were questioned argued that what İlklima wrote was not true. The prosecutor's office did not accept these defenses. Voice recordings of İlklima describing what happened to her to her mother were also included in the file. The prosecutor's office filed the lawsuit, stating, "There is no reason for the victim, who committed suicide, to make baseless accusations against suspects with whom she had no gain or hostility."

In the 11-page indictment, a lawsuit was filed seeking up to 18 years in prison for suspects Doğanay Sezgin and Arslan Sağlam for 'qualified sexual assault', and up to 5 years in prison for Hakan Belen for 'sexual assault by molestation'.
