Ship fire off the coast of Pendik! 2 people lost their lives
A fire that broke out on a Panama-flagged dry cargo ship sailing off the coast of Pendik near Balıkçı Island was brought under control with the timely intervention of emergency teams. It was determined that 2 people lost their lives as a result of the fire.
The fire broke out around 12:00 on the Panama-flagged dry cargo ship named FG Sevil, which was sailing off the coast of Pendik near Balıkçı Island.

Upon the report, emergency teams were dispatched to the scene.

In a statement regarding the incident, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure stated, “The KEGM-4 fast rescue boat belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and our KURTARMA-7 and ŞARK tugboats were immediately directed to the scene. As a result of the intervention, the fire has been completely extinguished. Information has been received that 2 victims located in the ship's engine room have passed away. The ship will be towed to the anchorage area by our ŞARK tugboat.”
