38-year-old Yusuf Yılmaz, a lecturer at Ege University in İzmir, opened fire on his 32-year-old wife, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Derya Uzelli Yılmaz, a lecturer at Katip Çelebi University, who had been in a contested divorce case since March 2023, as well as his mother-in-law Dilek Uzelli and his 4-year-old daughter Linda Yılmaz.

Yusuf Yılmaz, who killed his mother-in-law and daughter, then committed suicide. It was learned that his wife, Derya Uzelli Yılmaz, is in critical condition.

ARRIVED AT THE SCENE WITH 4 GUNS AND OPENED FIRE

It was learned that Yusuf Yılmaz, who suffered a mental breakdown, arrived at the scene with 4 guns and fired repeatedly at his wife, who was leaving to go to school, as well as his mother-in-law and daughter who were with her, before committing suicide. 20 empty shell casings were found during the investigation at the scene.

CANCER PATIENT

It was learned that Yusuf Yılmaz, who slaughtered his family, was a cancer patient. Police investigation at the scene is ongoing.
