Shocking protest against those who switched from CHP to AKP! They spat in their faces saying 'Shame on you'
Four municipal council members who resigned from the CHP and joined the AKP faced a harsh reaction at a folk dance event in Yenikent. Muharrem Özcan and Şakir Gülmez, who were protested by citizens with harsh words, walked away without responding, calling it a "sad incident."
Yenikent Municipal Council members Hilal Kabasakal, Şakir Gülmez, Muharrem Özcan, and Necmettin Aka, who left the CHP and transferred to the AKP, faced a harsh protest at the Turkey–Greece Folk Dance event held at Zeytindalı Park in the Yenikent neighborhood.
"A SAD INCIDENT"
According to Aydın Denge, local women in particular showed their reaction to Şakir Gülmez and Muharrem Özcan. While the two individuals stated that the citizens recognized them and that the other two council members were also present during the incident, they described what happened as a "sad incident."
HARSH OUTBURST FROM CITIZENS
A citizen who witnessed the event stated, "The women who reacted to the situation had a verbal argument with Şakir Gülmez and Muharrem Özcan. Neighborhood residents stated that the move was wrong, and the subject turned into a political debate. A dialogue took place with the two council members who changed parties. One of the women criticized Özcan and Gülmez, who changed parties, with harsh words and reacted by saying, 'Phooey on you, you shameless people, we do not grant you our blessing, may our votes be forbidden to you.' The council members who switched to the AKP with CHP votes were confused about what to do and left the scene without responding."

"WE DID NOT EXPECT THIS MUCH"
It was learned that the council members experienced deep sadness following the protest and felt great embarrassment during the incident. In statements they made to those around them, they expressed that they had encountered such harsh reactions for the first time and were worried that similar incidents might recur.
'THE SPITTING WAS VERBAL'
Muharrem Özcan, who is alleged to have switched to the AKP in exchange for becoming the Chairman of the Board of Directors of LİMA A.Ş., a subsidiary of the Söke Municipality, stated that he was saddened by what happened and said the following:
"It is normal for such reactions to occur. The spitting incident was verbal in the form of 'Phooey on you.' No saliva hit our faces. The angry woman said, 'Phooey on you, I do not grant you my blessing, may our vote be forbidden to you.' I wish such a situation had not occurred."
The other person targeted in the incident, Şakir Gülmez, used the following expressions:
"The neighborhood resident who reacted said, 'We voted for the CHP and you switched to the AKP. I do not grant you my blessing, may it be forbidden.' I did not engage with them and did not respond. There was no actual spitting incident directed at me. Hilal Kabasakal and Necmettin Aka were also there at the moment of the incident, but since the citizens did not recognize them, the reaction seemed as if it were directed only at Özcan and me. It is a sad incident, but it is normal for such reactions to occur."
