Smart sign system to be revised: Safer broadcasts for children
RTÜK Vice President Deniz Güler announced that the Smart Sign Classification System will be reorganized. The system will be revised through a project conducted in partnership with TÜBİTAK to more effectively classify the content of television broadcasts.
Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) Vice President Deniz Güler stated in his announcement that the Smart Sign Classification System is an informative classification system regarding the content of television broadcasts.

Deniz Güler reported that "smart signs" are designed to assist television broadcasters in fulfilling their responsibilities to protect children and young people from the potential harmful effects of television broadcasts.
Emphasizing that the system is a hybrid system developed by independent experts on the subject, Güler explained that this system provides information on "the potential harmful content of the program" and "which age group the program is suitable for."

"WE ARE CONDUCTING A JOINT PROJECT WITH TÜBİTAK"
Reporting that they are working on a new activity regarding the Smart Sign Classification System, Güler said, "We are conducting a joint project with TÜBİTAK. Within the scope of this project, we will revise the smart signs."
Güler also noted that 42 sanctions have been imposed on media service providers over the last 10 years due to the incorrect application of smart signs.
