Social media posts regarding İmamoğlu's detention process under surveillance
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has announced that provocative posts regarding the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu are being monitored.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and his colleagues were detained in a dawn operation conducted in the early hours of the morning. The detentions drew widespread reaction both on the streets and on social media.
A statement was issued by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding those expressing reactions on social media.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that while no investigation has been launched so far into those posting about the individuals detained in connection with the aforementioned investigations, social media activities that could be provocative or contain criminal elements are being monitored with sensitivity.
