Some roads in Istanbul to be closed for May 19 event! Alternative routes determined

Significant changes will be made to city transportation in Istanbul due to the cycling event to be held on the occasion of the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. According to the plan prepared by the Istanbul Police Department's Traffic Inspection Branch teams, the routes where the event will take place and alternative passages to these roads have been announced.

In this context, in Beyoğlu, Meclisi Mebusan Street, Kemeraltı Street, Necatibey Street, the section of Tershane Street between the Perşembe Pazarı traffic lights and Karaköy Square, as well as the route between İnönü Street and Şehitler Tepesi, will be completely or partially closed to traffic for the duration of the event.

In the Fatih district, the use of Alemdar Street, Sahil Kennedy Street (between Sirkeci Square and the Çatladıkapı traffic lights), Reşadiye Street, and the Galata Bridge will be restricted. Road closures in these areas will begin at 13:00 and will continue until the bicycle tour ends.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES DETERMINED

To avoid disruptions in transportation while the roads are closed, drivers will be directed to different routes. Instead of the roads closed to traffic in Beyoğlu, Tarlabaşı Boulevard, Refik Saydam Street, Asker Ocağı Street, the open sections of İnönü Street, Evliya Çelebi Street, Dolmabahçe Street, Kadırgalar Street, Bankalar Street, and Boğazkesen Street can be used.

In Fatih, Atatürk Boulevard and Atatürk Bridge are recommended as alternatives. Authorities advise citizens who are not participating in the event to take traffic density into account and use the alternative routes.
