SPK statement: Not a fund, but 'fraud'; indictment accepted

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç and SPK Chairman İbrahim Ömer Gönül have made statements regarding the case publicly known as the Fatih Terim Fund. 

INDICTMENT ACCEPTED

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç spoke about the case known as the "secret fund trial," in which Seçil Erzan and 7 other defendants are being tried.

In his remarks, Minister Tunç said, "In the Fatih Terim fund case, there are 7 defendants and 18 complainants. The indictment has been accepted. The judiciary will investigate the allegations. The most accurate decision will be reached."

"NOT A FUND, BUT FRAUD"

Capital Markets Board (SPK) Chairman İbrahim Ömer Gönül, in his assessment of the case known as the "high-yield secret fund," stated, "The incident in question is a case of fraud. According to Capital Markets legislation, this is not a fund; it is entirely fraud."

Gönül further added:

"The incident in question is a case of fraud. According to Capital Markets legislation, this is not a fund; it is entirely fraud. The fact that it is called a fund or presented as a fund does not bring it under the scope of a fund in our legislation."
