'Sports middle schools' to open in the next academic year:

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has announced that pilot "sports middle schools" will be opened within some sports high schools in the next academic year. In addition to the standard curriculum, sports middle schools will primarily focus on physical education and sports classes. Students will be admitted to sports middle schools through an aptitude test.

In a statement from the MEB, it was noted that sports middle schools will be opened in sports high schools with suitable infrastructure and classroom facilities, with the aim of directing students to sports at an early age, discovering talented students, and fostering conscious athletes. 

The statement noted that the sports middle schools, which will be opened as a pilot program in the 2024-2025 academic year, are designed for students who are aware of their athletic talents after primary school and wish to continue their education in the field of sports. It was stated that these schools aim to serve as a source for training qualified individuals in the field of physical education and sports.

The statement indicated that in addition to the implementation of the standard curriculum, sports middle schools will primarily provide physical education and sports classes, and students will be admitted to these schools through an aptitude test.

The statement also reported that efforts to determine the pilot schools are ongoing.
