Spring in the west, winter in the east: Meteorology issues yellow alert for 16 provinces
Across Turkey, temperatures are expected to rise in the west over the weekend, while a significant cooling is expected in the eastern provinces. The General Directorate of Meteorology has urged precautions in 16 provinces against potential heavy rainfall, storms, and avalanche risks.
Throughout the weekend, Turkey will experience two different weather conditions simultaneously. While the spring effect strengthens in the western provinces with temperatures rising by up to 7 degrees, winter conditions will return to the southern and eastern parts of Central Anatolia and the inland regions of the Eastern Black Sea as temperatures drop by up to 8 degrees.
Partly to very cloudy weather will prevail across the country. According to meteorological assessments, while sunny weather will be enjoyed in the northwestern provinces, temperatures are expected to decrease significantly in the eastern parts.
METEOROLOGICAL WARNING FOR 16 CITIES
The Meteorology Department has issued a yellow-coded alert for the provinces of Ağrı, Artvin, Bingöl, Bitlis, Erzincan, Erzurum, Gümüşhane, Hakkari, Kars, Muş, Rize, Trabzon, Van, Bayburt, Ardahan, and Iğdır. Residents in these provinces have been urged to be cautious against sudden weather changes, heavy rainfall, and the risk of avalanches and storms.
RAINFALL AND SNOW WARNING
Meteorological authorities stated that the precipitation, which will begin after noon today, will be in the form of showers and thunderstorms across most of the country. In the high-altitude areas of the Eastern Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia, the precipitation is expected to turn into sleet and snow.
The rainy weather is expected to remain effective until the beginning of the week. Experts have warned drivers and citizens to be careful against suddenly changing road and weather conditions.
