Statement from AFAD regarding floods and water inundations across the country
AFAD announced that it has responded to 405 flood and water inundation incidents across the country due to extreme rainfall on September 21-22, and that all stranded citizens have been moved to safe areas. It was stated that the lifeless body of Ali Kemal Demir, who went missing in Trabzon, has been recovered.
The Ministry of Interior Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) issued a statement regarding the floods and water inundations across the country, stating, "All of our stranded citizens have been rescued by our teams and moved to safe areas."
AFAD shared on its social media account that numerous floods and water inundations occurred due to extreme rainfall across the country on September 21-22.
The post stated that a total of 405 floods and water inundations, 62 landslides, and 204 incidents of people being stranded occurred in 31 provinces, adding, "A total of 644 reports received were responded to with 2,702 personnel and 2,041 vehicles. All of our stranded citizens have been rescued by our teams and moved to safe areas."
Regarding the disappearance of 65-year-old Ali Kemal Demir, who was hearing impaired and went missing after leaving his home to go to the mosque following the heavy rainfall that affected the Çavuşlu neighborhood of Trabzon's Sürmene district 2 days ago, the following was noted:
"The lifeless body of our citizen who went missing in our Trabzon province on September 20 has been recovered. We wish God's mercy upon our citizen who lost his life, and extend our condolences to his family and loved ones. We are monitoring the developments."
